About me – Not a painter by profession, but by choice……… Moumita Mukherjee is a modern existentialist painter, who likes to experiment with techniques and styles. To her, life is an experience with its many shades of emotions and colors; her paintings draw inspirations from struggles and strides of everyday people around her.
Moumita was born in India in 1971. A self-taught painter, Moumita has created her world of acrylics Mumuscape, through which she communicates her thoughts. She is a feminist painter; her canvases portray uncommon stories of common women. Rarity of male figure in her work, is not to exclude but to portray the magnanimity and the strength of the often-marginalized female in our society.
Moumita’s paintings have been sold in different corners of the world. Her work has been displayed in many solo exhibitions and other group shows in USA and internationally, in UK, Belgium and Germany. In March 2022, Moumita was recognized by Lt. Governor Susan Crouch as one of the Hoosier Women Artists.
Moumita is a civil engineer by profession and currently works for Indiana Department of Natural Resources. She lives in Greenwood, IN with her family.
